The Stoneham Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for its 2017 Scholarship Program. Graduating high school seniors who have a connection to a Chamber member, are eligible to apply for the scholarships.
The Chamber currently offers three (3) $1,000 scholarships. Two of these awards were created in memory of John F. Mahoney, Jr. and Kathleen E. Bray – community and Chamber members who used their talents and strengths to build their businesses in Stoneham and to find ways to give back to the community over their years here.
The Chamber’s ability to fund these annual scholarships is directly tied to the generous support of its members. Each year members underwrite programs such as this scholarship program, the Summer Concert Series, Town Day, the annual Tree Lighting, and many other events.
Scholarships are not necessarily needs-based and application criteria require that applicants be either the child or grandchild of a member in good standing of the Stoneham Chamber of Commerce or an employee of a member in good standing. Applicants must provide two letters of reference, along with a current official transcript from their school and an essay reflecting their educational goals.
Completed applications are due in the Chamber of Commerce Office, 335 Main Street, Suite 202, Stoneham, MA 02180 no later than Thursday, April 13, 2017.
Eligible students may pick up an application in their school guidance offices, download the Scholarship Application here, download the Scholarship Information Sheet here, or call/email the Chamber office for paper copies at (781) 438-0001; firstname.lastname@example.org.
