2016 Tree Lighting on the Stoneham Common
Sunday, November 27, from 3-5pm
The Tree Lighting on the Stoneham Common takes place each year on the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend. A true collaboration of Chamber businesses and the Town of Stoneham, the Common is resplendent with festive holiday lights and decorations and is enjoyed by the community for weeks to come.
The Tree Lighting is a FREE afternoon event open to all. Beginning at 3:00pm, attendees can enjoy fun activities, sample delicious food and beverages and be entertained with holiday music and performances.
Santa makes his grand entrance by fire truck shortly after the festivities begin, and elves help him all afternoon as he listens carefully to requests from children. Fun activities include pony rides, games, balloon creations, holiday craft making and Santa’s Mailbox.
Attendees can warm up with delicious hot food sampling, and hot cocoa and popcorn provided by local Chamber restaurants. Traditional holiday music and current favorites play throughout the Common, and the Girl Scouts of Stoneham lead everyone in singing popular carols in front of the Big Tree. Added in 2012, a Memory Tree provides a beautiful way to remember loved ones during the holiday season.
The festivities culminate with the traditional lighting of the big tree in the center of the Common.
Information about volunteering, donations and sponsorships is generally available on this website in late October or early November.
